Proudly born and raised in Brooklyn, NY Antoine would not have imagined that his life would change so drastically when he decided to visit the city of Philadelphia in 2015. Antoine did not intend to stay in Philadelphia, but life happened and Philadelphia is now his new home. It was hard to leave his family and friends in the New York “Lo Life Community.” As luck would have it, his Brooklyn network connected him with someone from Philadelphia with the same interests.

Sometimes, there are moments that create chance encounters, moments that lead to a special connection which exposes us to a new life. This particular moment was created with an invitation to hang out at the neighborhood tavern.

Meanwhile, in the fall of 2018 Philly Native, Davonja was hanging out with a group of her girls. This November night was filled with excitement and sadness as Davonja was losing one her closet friends to a new job opportunity out of state. As the girls partied, Davonja noticed a guy staring at her, it was Antoine. After a few exchanged looks, Antoine brought Davonja a drink. Antoine then introduced himself and the two became lost in their own world as they talked the entire time they were in the tavern. After exchanging numbers they went their separate ways. That same evening, Antoine called Davonja and the two stayed on the telephone the entire night until sunrise.

Since then, it has been 7 years of corny jokes (Antoine), travel, bonus parenting (Davonja), a pandemic, surgeries, moving, road trips to visit family, many homemade meals (Antoine) and lots and lots of love.
